| Part-Time, Fixed Term, 0.2FTE, 15.2 hours per fortnight (until November 2027 - covering parerntal leave) | Grade 3 | Specialist Autism Team |

About the Role:

This is a Fixed Term, part-time position to cover Parental Leave until November 2027, at 0.2 FTE/15.2 hours per fortnight within the Specialist Autism Team of RCH Mental Health.

You will be expected to provide speech pathology assessments and expert opinion on patients referred to the Specialist Autism Team, as well as providing secondary consultation and education to families, referrers, and other health and welfare professionals.

Internally, this position may also be known and/or referred to as: Speech Pathologist (Grade 3) - Specialist Autism Team.

Classification for this position is in accordance with Award 77 - Mental Health Allied Health.

This will range from YB51 (Grade 3, Year 1) to YB54 (Grade 3, Year 4), FTE base salary $95,732.00-$110,037.20 per annum, pro rata for part-time, plus superannuation.

What you'll achieve:

• Deliver excellent evidence-based practice Speech Pathology assessments and provide recommendations as indicated
• Actively participate as part of a team to ensure ongoing excellence in service delivery and contribute to continuous improvement
• Apply well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills and attention to detail with the ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders
• Communicate effectively with patients and families to ensure their understanding and that their needs and views are included in plans and actions

Your skills and experience:

• Entry to practice tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
• Eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
• Post qualifying clinical experience
• An understanding of the healthcare sector and / or child development
• Demonstrated experience working in a paediatric or mental health setting (including student placements as an undergraduate)

About the Department:

The Specialist Autism Team (SAT) is part of RCH Mental Health, a community- and hospital-based service providing recovery focused interventions for infants, children and adolescents experiencing mental health difficulties. It is one of a statewide network of Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Services (ICYAMHWS). The community arm of the service works with young people up to 12 years of age, while hospital-based services work with hospital patients up to 18 yrs.

The SAT provides assessments for children who are complex and difficult to diagnose. In addition, the team provides secondary and primary consultation to other teams and departments within RCH around autism and other developmental concerns. The team is actively involved in training and teaching, both within RCH and in the community more broadly.

Other requirements:

• Current National Criminal Record Check, or willing to obtain
• Valid Working with Children Check
• Compliance with RCHs "Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases" procedure
