LV Mechanic

About the role

MUDPIG Mechanical is seeking an experienced LV Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis in Humpty Doo, NT. This is a hands-on mechanical role where you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light vehicles to the highest standards. As an LV Mechanic, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring our clients' vehicles are safe, reliable, and performing optimally. This position offers the opportunity to work with modern diagnostic equipment and a variety of vehicle makes and models.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections and diagnostic testing using specialist equipment

• Carry out routine maintenance services including oil changes, fluid top-ups, filter replacements, and tyre rotations

• Diagnose mechanical faults and identify necessary repairs with accuracy and efficiency

• Execute repairs to engines, gearboxes, suspension systems, braking systems, and electrical components

• Maintain detailed and accurate service records and job documentation

• Provide customers with clear explanations of work performed and recommendations for vehicle maintenance

• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with relevant Australian standards and regulations

• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment

• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive workshop culture

What we're looking for

• A relevant automotive trade qualification or recognised apprenticeship in automotive mechanics

• Valid driver's licence and willingness to road test vehicles as required

• Proficiency with modern diagnostic equipment and computer-based vehicle systems

• Strong knowledge of light vehicle mechanical systems, including engines, transmissions, suspension, braking, and electrical systems

• Proven ability to work methodically and pay close attention to detail

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues

• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to customers in accessible language

• Demonstrated commitment to safety practices and compliance with workplace procedures

• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Experience with a variety of vehicle makes and models is advantageous

• Knowledge of current automotive technology and emerging vehicle systems is desirable
