About the Role

As a key member of the Fat Zebra finance team, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and statutory obligations. Your primary focus will be on delivering financial reporting, managing daily fund movements, and maintaining robust reconciliation and compliance processes within NetSuite and other Fat Zebra Systems.

You’ll also play a significant role in driving process improvements, supporting system integrations, and partnering with internal teams to optimise our end-to-end financial workflows—laying the foundation for scalable growth as Fat Zebra enters its next phase of expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

• Manage daily funding operations and perform high-volume bank and merchant reconciliations across multiple accounts, ensuring financial accuracy.
• Support the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports in line with legal requirements and company accounting policies.
• Balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances
• Managing fixed assets, revenue recognition, provisions, prepayments, and intercompany accounting
• Execute core month-end close activities including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Prepare and submit key compliance reports including BAS, PAYG and support annual and interim audit deliverables.
• Support external audits and preparing supporting documentation.
• Drive continuous improvements in financial processes and system integrations by collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency and accuracy across the finance function.

How you know you’ll succeed

There are several areas where we want you to create impact:

• Month-end tasks completed accurately and on time (within 5 business days)
• All key accounts (bank, merchant, liabilities) reconciled monthly
• No late BAS, PAYG, payroll tax, or super lodgments
• Audit and compliance queries handled quickly with little rework
• Improved efficiency through better processes or system use (e.g. NetSuite, ZoneCapture, Serko)
• Positive feedback from internal stakeholders on reliability, accuracy, and ownership of responsibilities.

Skills & Experience

To hit the ground running, you will need:

• 6+ years of post CA/CPA qualification of hands-on experience in financial accounting, with a strong track record in month-end close, reconciliations, compliance reporting and automating processes.
• Proficient in NetSuite, with confidence navigating multi-entity structures and high-volume transaction environments.
• Good understanding of Australian accounting standards, BAS, PAYG and superannuation compliance.
• Experienced in working with integrated systems such as Serko, ZoneCapture, Employment Hero and ApprovalMax, with strong ability to understand and navigate Fat Zebra’s internal billing system, acquiring platform, and CRM.
• Detail-oriented with a practical problem-solving approach, comfortable investigating variances and contributing to issue resolution.
• Good communicator who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, coordinates effectively with all departments, and adapts well to evolving priorities.
• Take ownership of tasks, care about accuracy, and always look for ways to improve processes.
• Payments industry and Treasury experience preferred but not essential
