About the role
The Shipwright is a qualified marine tradesperson responsible for the structural repair, maintenance, and restoration of vessels within One Brokerage's Perth service department. This is a hands-on technical role requiring thorough knowledge of marine construction, materials, and systems. Working closely with the Service & Syndication Manager and the service team, the Shipwright delivers high-quality repair and maintenance outcomes for both private and syndicated vessels to the OB standard.
Key responsibilities
Carry out structural repairs to fibreglass, timber, and composite vessels — including hull repairs, osmosis treatment, delamination, and impact damage
Perform gelcoat repairs, fairing, and finishing to a professional standard
Undertake timber work including deck repairs, teak restoration, and joinery
Carry out antifoul removal, surface preparation, and application of protective coatings
Complete refit and restoration works as required on syndication and private client vessels
Assess structural integrity of vessels and provide clear written reports to the Service Manager
Assist with and carry out mechanical and marine systems maintenance as required
Assist with annual servicing — including vessel haulouts, antifoul, and out-of-water works
Diagnose and repair issues with vessel fittings, through-hull components, deck hardware, and structural elements
Maintain photo and evidence capture on all structural and repair jobs for warranty, billing, and client reporting
About you
Qualified Shipwright or Certificate III/IV in Boatbuilding and Repair (or equivalent marine trade qualification)
Minimum 2–3 years hands-on experience in marine vessel repair, restoration, or maintenance
Proven experience with fibreglass, gelcoat, composite, and timber repair techniques
Sound knowledge of marine systems, deck hardware, and structural components
Strong attention to detail — commitment to delivering high-quality, professional finishes
Ability to work independently and manage workload across multiple jobs
Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements in a marine or workshop environment
Marine Card - Required
WA boat licence advantageous
