Product Design & Technical Support

THE ROLE 

An exciting opportunity exists at Zenith for an experienced Product Designer/Mechanical Engineer to join our Product Technical Support team based in Sandringham, Vic. 

We are seeking a product design professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in supporting sales teams and manufacturing teams with custom product design and technical design support when needed. 

The position is a permanent full-time office role based at our Sandringham design and manufacturing facility.  Salary flexible, dependant on persons experience and skills.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES 

• Developing customer specials and product enhancements  

• Producing technical documentation and drawings for manufacture.  

• Development of new products (Conceptual idea generation, sketching and CAD) 

• Helping to produce and evaluate prototypes and customer mockups.   

• Support for the manufacturing, sales and customer service teams.  

• Help maintain and develop the CAD and drawing database 

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES 

• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or Product Design Engineering 

• Proficient in 3D CAD; Solid Edge or similar  

• Other related design software skills. 

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills required 

• Ability to organise and prioritise 

• Development experience 

• Initiative and self-motivation  

• Organisation and documentation 

• Ability to work and meet tight timelines 

• Model-making / prototype manufacture 

• Understanding of ERP/MRP Systems 

• Knowledge of current leading-edge commercial furniture products 

• Knowledge of drawing systems 

• Knowledge of relevant industry standards
