Position: Accountant

Salary: $92,857 per year plus superannuation

Main responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports and operating reports for directors and senior management, ensuring accurate and timely completion of month-end reporting.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals and other month-end adjustments, and review general ledger accounts and balance-sheet reconciliations to maintain the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Perform bank and balance-sheet account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and variances, and make or recommend appropriate accounting adjustments.
• Analyse inventory valuation, cost of goods sold and stock movements, perform periodic inventory reconciliations, and investigate variances in collaboration with operations and warehouse teams.
• Prepare weekly cash-flow forecasts and analyse cash requirements, supplier payment commitments and working-capital movements to support financial planning and cash-flow management.
• Assist the CFO with the preparation of annual budgets for marketing, distribution, fulfilment and inventory, providing financial information to support budgeting, forecasting and management decision-making.
• Review supplier invoices, payment terms and account discrepancies, liaise with vendors to resolve financial issues, and support accurate and timely accounts-payable processing.
• Provide financial information and analysis to the CFO, directors and operational teams to support business planning, financial control and management decision-making.

Qualifications: Bachelor degree or higher in Accounting, or a closely related field with substantial accounting studies. CPA or CA membership highly regarded.

Previous experience: At least 3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience is required.

Language: Conversant in English.

Additional skills:

• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
• Familiarity with tax regulations and requirements
• Experience in Xero
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and comfortable dealing with large spreadsheets
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
• Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with individuals at all levels of the organisation
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information

Pay: $92,857.00 per year
