Our client is a leading Energy Markets Consultancy providing expert mathematical and economic advice across the energy sector. They're highly rgarded across clients and often one of the first candidates ask me about when searching for their next role.

The team combines deep energy markets knowledge across the NEM, WEM and braoder APAC pmarkets, with quantitative expertise with the ability to build custom software solutions, allowing them to deliver short, medium, and long-term strategies for their clients. From upstream gas production to wholesale electricity generation, network services, and end-user consumption, they have delivered major projects for governments, utilities, developers, and investors across the full breadth of the energy sector.

We are recruiting Consultants with 3+ years' experience to join the company across the Energy Market Modelling, Commercial, Strategy teams, dependent on candidate skillset.

Responsibilites

As a Consultant, you will play a key role in the creation, analysis, and delivery of high-quality energy modelling that informs strategic decisions for a diverse client base. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing quantitative analysis, building models, and documenting approaches to solving problems
• Translating complex modelling outputs into actionable insights and clear visualisations for clients
• Supporting client presentations, communications, and relationship coordination
• Staying current on industry trends, methodologies, and data sources to keep modelling techniques accurate and relevant
• Collaborating with colleagues to improve data models, integrate client feedback, and identify opportunities for greater automation and scalability

About You

• A tertiary degree in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another highly quantitative field such as Statistics or Computer Science
• 3+ years of professional experience in energy markets, trading, market analysis across NEM and/or WEM
• Existing knowledge of Australian energy markets, power system operations, policy, and regulation is advantageous
• Strong quantitative skills and solid programming capability for data analysis and tool automation (e.g. Python, R)
• The ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing, with strong time management and prioritisation skills
