About the role
We're looking for a switched-on, people-loving hospitality pro to join the front-of-house team at The Alps. If you're into great service, good wine and making people feel at home, come join us on the mountain.
The great wine regions of the Old World form a formidable ring around the European Alps. These regions, along with many others from across the Old and New World of wine, fill our 400+ strong wine library at The Alps Wine Shop & Bar.
We’re big believers in wines that tell you where they come from, the place, the people and the seasons that shaped them. There are always around 20 wines rotating by the glass, with another 400+ bottles waiting on the shelves, all alongside thoughtful plates of food made with wine in mind.
We’re part of the Diggin’ In The Cellars group, where good wine, good food and good people sit at the heart of everything we do. We’re curious by nature and believe the best way to learn is to share what we know, ask questions and stay open to what’s around the corner.
We’re looking for an experienced front of house team member who knows good hospitality, has a genuine interest in wine and enjoys being part of a busy room.
You’ll be confident looking after your own section, building relationships with guests, talking comfortably about food and wine and making sure service runs smoothly from first pour to last plate. You’ll work closely with the wider front of house and kitchen teams, helping create the kind of service that feels considered, relaxed and genuinely hospitable.
You’ll also contribute to the rhythm of service beyond the floor, from pre service preparation and setting the room through to closing duties and leaving the venue ready for the next day.
There is plenty of opportunity to deepen your wine knowledge and develop your service skills through regular training, tastings and learning alongside the wider team.
You have previous experience in a quality hospitality environment and understand what great service looks and feels like.
You’re confident talking to guests, comfortable with food and wine and genuinely interested in learning more. You might already have a strong understanding of wine or be working towards formal wine education. WSET qualifications are preferred but not essential.
You’re calm under pressure, organised and able to read a room. You take pride in your work, notice the small things and understand that good hospitality is as much about how you make people feel as what you put on the table.
Most importantly, you’re generous with your knowledge, enjoy working as part of a team and want to keep developing your craft.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
