Telehandler Operator

About the role

MLR Projects is seeking an experienced Telehandler Operator to join our dynamic construction team. This is a full-time position based in South Australia. As a Telehandler Operator, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating telehandler equipment on various construction sites. This role is critical to ensuring project timelines are met whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. You will play a vital part in supporting our construction operations and contributing to the success of our projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate telehandler equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with all relevant legislation, regulations and company safety procedures

• Conduct pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks on telehandler equipment to ensure it is in optimal working condition

• Load, unload and transport materials and equipment to designated areas on construction sites

• Position loads accurately and safely, following site instructions and work plans

• Communicate effectively with site supervisors, spotters and other team members to coordinate lifting operations

• Adhere to all site-specific safety protocols, traffic management procedures and environmental requirements

• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and report any faults or damage immediately

• Operate in varying weather conditions and challenging site environments whilst maintaining professional standards

• Support the wider construction team to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget

What we're looking for

• Valid High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) for telehandler operation or the ability to obtain one

• Proven experience operating telehandler equipment on construction sites

• Current drivers licence

• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations within the construction industry

• Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from site supervisors

• Good communication skills and the ability to liaise with other site personnel

• Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging site conditions

• Reliability and punctuality

• Experience with plant and machinery safety practices

• Preferably holds additional certifications such as First Aid or Rigger qualifications
