Disability Support - Holidays and After School

About us

Home Help Hire Qld is a boutique provider of customised disability support. We actively teach skills development in our centre, The Warehouse, in Kippa-Ring. The majority of our clients are children and teenagers with level 3 autism and multiple co-morbidities. Our holiday programs are known for their engagement, fun, learning, skill integration and transfer of learning to daily life for our participants.

We need people who can facilitate and deliver these sessions in line with our daily plans to assist their clients in building their skills in daily living. Support is provided at a 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 ratio with the clients.

About the role

To support the client (participant) to achieve their goals as stated in their NDIS plan, and on our services plan. To maintain client safety and respect their right to choice and control over the service execution. To protect children's welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Transporting multiple clients concurrently

• Managing complex behaviours

• Engaging in varied community environments

• Helping clients achieve daily living skills

• Domestic Assistance

• Toileting assistance

• Hygiene assistance

• Showering assistance

• Cleaning and organising

• Community access

• Assisting client with therapy exercises

DSW's are required to track and record participant progress towards goals, as well as identify any action plans needed to assist in achieving goals. They are to identify and manage risks in line with risk management policies, report on issues, hazards and mitigation strategies in line with the WHS Act. DSW's are to identify and report on situations of harm, likely harm or potential harm to a participant, and to actively take steps to prevent child harm within the legislative framework of the Child Protection Act.

About you

• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (current)

• HLTAID009 Provide CPR (current)

• CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (must hold or be enrolled in)*

• Valid and current Australian Driver's licence for the state you work in

• Drivers Licence and comprehensively insured car

• Double covid-19 vaccination

• Clean National Police Check

• Blue Card

• Yellow Card

• Completed the 4 NDIS Worker Training Modules

*Qualifications in a relevant field to the client needs will be considered as a base for employment – for example Support Workers whose clients are children should have qualifications in that field including (but not limited to): Certificate III in Child Care or higher, Certificate III in Education Support or higher, or Certificate IV in Allied Health.

What’s Available:

A position in our holidays team, where we deliver 6 sessions a week for 7-8 hrs each session. Every school holiday period.

We also run after school programs, 2:30 (from school locations)-5:45pm, where you can work with participants in the same format but after school.

For those who are versatile, we can offer additional hours during the days with our adult clients, however currently this work is predominantly after school and in the holidays.
