About the role
St John of God Murdoch Hospital is one of the leading private health campuses in Western Australia, and major health care hub in the southern region. It has an excellent reputation, benefits from being in the fastest growing area of Perth and is conveniently positioned next door to the State’s flagship Fiona Stanely Hospital.
Your role
As Nurse Unit Manager you will be responsible for leadership and management on our Emergency Department, ensuring patient safety, quality of care and experience, efficient operations and contribution to the strategic objectives of the Directorate.
This exciting opportunity will allow you to show case your vast knowledge through both staff management and a hands-on clinical component. The role will require you to provide supervision and direction, alongside advanced clinical nursing skills in Emergency Care.
This position will be offered on a permanent full-time basis working 38 hours per week, hours negotiable.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor standards of service and practice against benchmark targets, including nurse sensitive indicators, incident management system data, clinical indicator results and patient, doctor and caregiver satisfaction results. Where benchmarks are not met, design, implement and evaluate responses.
Support and participate in the ACHS accreditation process/regulatory assessments, as well as group-wide and divisional Quality and Clinical Risk Management programs.
Foster a clinical culture of interdisciplinary collaboration to improve patient outcomes.
Ensure that patients and consumers are actively involved in relevant planning and decision-making processes.
Work in a clinical capacity within the department as required, to support caregivers, medical officers and to ensure the delivery of safe, person-centred care.
Ongoing financial management and monitoring of the service cost centre including, productivity, activity and utilisation in line with budgetary parameters and performance targets.
Promote and demonstrate a culture of innovation and improvement to enhance patient care and experience.
Holding current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse, you will possess recent experience working in fast past hospital emergency department, with dedication to quality improvement, including knowledge of the ACHS EQuiP process and clinical risk management. You will have expertise in establishing, overseeing, and fulfilling annual and financial operational targets and benchmarks. Additionally, you will possess the knowledge and abilities to lead and support change management.
To be successful, you will have contemporary management and leadership experience as a Senior Nurse in an acute hospital setting, with previous management experience. You will be skilled in making clinical, managerial and ethical decisions whilst cultivating a positive service-oriented culture. Building strong relationships and teams amongst medical professionals, nurses, and other health care providers will be key. Additionally, you will manage risks, balance competing priorities and meet delivery timeframes.

Salary: $141,353 per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 12% superannuation
A permanent full-time position, working 38 hours per week, hours negotiable
