Design systems are more than component libraries. They are the foundation that enables great customer experiences at scale.
At RACV, we're looking for a Senior UI Designer (Design Systems) to help shape the future of our digital experiences. Sitting within the Group Design Practice and reporting to the UX Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in building and evolving the eCommerce design system that powers some of RACV's most important customer journeys.
From insurance quote-to-purchase experiences to self-service digital interactions, you'll ensure our experiences are consistent, accessible, scalable and ready for delivery. Working at the intersection of design and technology, you'll act as the bridge between UX and Engineering, translating customer journeys and design intent into reusable components, patterns and standards that can be implemented across digital channels.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to RACV's evolving eCommerce customer experience vision and support major integration initiatives while helping establish a design system that drives quality, efficiency and consistency across the organisation.
What you'll be doing
Design and evolve the eCommerce UI design system, including components, patterns, tokens and interaction standardsTranslate UX journeys, concepts and flows into scalable, reusable UI assetsDefine component specifications, behaviours, states, accessibility requirements and edge casesEnsure the design system supports complex transactional and eCommerce experiences, including quote, purchase, account and servicing journeysPartner closely with designers and developers to ensure design solutions are technically feasible and aligned to platform constraintsCreate clear documentation that supports efficient design-to-development deliveryChampion accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2) and inclusive design principlesDrive consistency across customer journeys while maintaining a strong, brand-aligned visual languageFacilitate collaboration across Product, Design, Technology and Development teamsContribute to the ongoing governance, scalability and maturity of RACV's design systemExplore responsible uses of AI and automation to improve design-to-development workflows
What you'll bring
5+ years' experience in UX/UI Design, Design Systems or similar rolesStrong visual design and interaction design capability with a systems-thinking mindsetDemonstrated experience building and maintaining design systems, component libraries and design tokensDeep understanding of responsive design, interaction patterns and design system architectureExperience translating UX concepts into structured, reusable UI componentsStrong experience working with Figma, including component libraries and tokensProven ability to collaborate with engineers to bring design systems to lifeExperience delivering complex digital products, eCommerce or transactional experiencesStrong communication skills with the ability to articulate design rationale and system thinkingPassion for accessibility, inclusive design and high-quality customer experiencesAbility to thrive in complex environments and work autonomously while aligning to a broader vision
