About Our Role
Production-based opportunities within a market-leading food manufacturing environmentShift-based roles working across a 7-day roster, including day, afternoon and night shiftsDevonport based, commencing late October 2026
Simplot Devonport is seeking motivated applicants for opportunities within our Production department ahead of the 2026/2027 season. Simplot Devonport has a proud history in the local community, with the site opening in 1942 and employing thousands of Tasmanians. With the ability to process up to 28 tonnes per hour of fresh, locally grown Tasmanian vegetables destined for the frozen vegetable market, these opportunities will contribute to the intake, processing, packing, transport and storage of a range of crops including peas, beans, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, onions and Brussels sprouts.
Working 8-hour shifts across a 7-day roster (including day, afternoon and night shifts), with a focus on safety and quality within a modern, progressive facility, our first intake for the season will commence in late October 2026.
With base hourly rates of $41.89 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading), plus shift loadings and overtime, these are excellent opportunities to commence your manufacturing career with a global leader in food production.
What You Will Do
Working within our process, packing or logistics areas, Production Operator duties will include (but are not limited to):
Inspection of incoming raw materialsSafe operation of fixed plant processing and high-speed packaging equipmentCleaning and sanitising production linesAccurately completing daily shift logs and system entriesForklift operation (for suitably licensed and experienced candidates)Adherence to GMP and food safety practicesContributing to continuous improvement (CI) processesWorking within an active manufacturing environment
For candidates with demonstrated forklift experience, additional duties may include:
Safely transporting finished goods between production areas across the siteUse of fork-mounted RF systems and radio communicationsOperating within our cold store and freezerPerforming pre-start checks on forklift equipmentRefuelling gas-powered forklifts and changing and charging batteries for electric forklifts
About You
Possess a 100% commitment to workplace safetyAbility to work a variety of 8-hour day, afternoon and night shifts across a 7-day roster (mandatory, including weekends)A current LF Forklift Licence and demonstrated operating experience (mandatory for applicants seeking roles with forklift duties)Ability to follow Standard Operating ProceduresExperience within a manufacturing, processing or mechanically related environment will be advantageousHigh attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective time management and the ability to work to production schedulesAbility to work effectively within a team environmentPositive communication skillsAbility to undertake in-house aptitude testing as part of the recruitment processWillingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment, including urine-based drug and alcohol screening
