Maintenance Person

Floridia Cheese is a successful family-owned business based in Thomastown, proudly producing award-winning Italian-style cheeses for over 70 years. With more than 100 employees, recognised brands, and a growing local and global customer base, we continue to build on our reputation for quality and innovation.

We are expanding our maintenance department and seeking a qualified hands-on, mechanically and technically minded Maintenance Person. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background and a commitment to excellence in maintenance practices and preventive maintenance programs to help minimize downtime in production.

This is an onsite full-time position, Monday to Friday with participation in a weekend and on call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of machinery and equipment
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in a timely manner to minimise downtime (pull, repair pumps and motors).
• Conduct machine tooling and die changeovers / machine set-ups.
• Collaborate and schedule maintenance activities without disrupting operations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
• Assist in the installation of new equipment and machinery as required.
• Maintain preventative and corrective maintenance programs, including CMMS, asset registers, PLCs, and critical spare parts management.
• Follow instructions from the maintenance team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

• Completion of Certificate III in Engineering -Mechanical Trade or equivalent qualification.
• 3-5 years proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment, food, dairy, or FMCG.
• Forklift license advantageous.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• Good mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with manufacturing equipment (such as Conveyors, pumps, pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, and packaging machinery) preferred.
• Confidence working with modern technology and machinery, troubleshooting machinery and automated systems.
• Knowledge of WHS requirements and safe work practices.
• Experience and fluent with Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS systems (e.g. WORX, MEX).
• Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
