Overview of Role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead our quality assurance function at our Acacia Ridge site. This full-time role reports directly to the Site Manager with a dotted reporting line to the ANZ Quality Manager and operates Monday to Friday during standard business hours with occasional after hours or weekend work as and when required.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and technical expertise to the quality team to ensure our site consistently meets internal and external customers’ expectations, whilst ensuring regulatory standards and legislative compliance is adhered to. The role requires management experience, with responsibility of four direct reports: a Senior Quality Control Officer and three Quality Assurance Officers.
Key Responsibilities
· Implement annual quality plans in consultation with key internal & external stakeholders
· Set annual quality metrics and objectives for relevant departments on site
· Ensure compliance with internal & external standards and legislation
· Review site customer/consumer complaints ensuring timely and effective corrective actions for the non-conformance reporting (NCR) process
· Participate in product design and review process, providing guidance on HACCP environmental impacts safety considerations and CAPEX change management
· Provide technical expertise and assistance to site QC Officers and departmental managers to prevent and resolve quality issues; developing action plans where required
· Oversee the management and coordination of internal & external audits
· Facilitate supplier audits; coordinate timely feedback to stakeholders including corrective action plans.
Experience and Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Quality Management, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related discipline
Previous experience in a quality assurance or quality management role within food manufacturing FMCG or a similar regulated environment
Minimum 5-7 years of quality assurance or quality management experience in food manufacturing or FMCG environment
Understanding of HACCP, GMP, food safety standards and relevant customer and regulatory requirements
Demonstrated experience managing or supporting quality management systems (QMS)
Experience conducting or overseeing internal and external audits
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including experience with NCR's and CARs and root cause analysis methodologies
Ability to provide leadership coaching and Technical Support to quality and operational teams
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
High attention to detail and strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
Formal training or certificate in HACCP, internal auditing, or food safety
Experience with supplier management and supply ordered processes
Knowledge of environmental management CAPEX change processes or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. example Lean 6 Sigma)
Previous experience in a management at any capacity
Industrial Relations experience with employees and unions
