About the role
About the role
Ngroo is seeking a passionate and motivated Project Officer (Data and Quality) to join the Connected Beginnings team, supporting communities across Mt Druitt and Doonside. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful, community-led work that strengthens how data is collected, managed and used to improve outcomes for Aboriginal children, families and communities.
As Ngroo continues to develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework aligned with the principles of Aboriginal Data Sovereignty, this role will play a key part in embedding culturally centred approaches to data across the organisation. Grounded in Aboriginal worldviews, this work extends across contracting, programs, research, evaluation and communications, ensuring Aboriginal people maintain control over their stories and data.
Working within the Connected Beginnings Team, the Project Officer will coordinate activities that strengthen Ngroo's monitoring, evaluation and data governance systems. You will help ensure services collect high-quality, meaningful data that informs decision-making, demonstrates impact and supports continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
Support the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation and learning activities across the organisation.
Coordinate the collection, management and analysis of data to improve programs and services.
Contribute to reports that demonstrate outcomes and impact for communities, partners and other stakeholders.
Strengthen data quality, governance systems and reporting processes.
Support the implementation of culturally secure data practices that uphold the principles of Aboriginal Data Sovereignty.
Help ensure information is collected, managed, shared and protected in ways that respect community authority, cultural protocols and trust.
Work collaboratively across teams to build a culture of evidence-informed, community-led practice.
About you
Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, Indigenous studies, evaluation, research, social impact, community development or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Demonstrated understanding of monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, auditing and reporting, with the ability to use data to inform continuous improvement and organisational decision-making.
Knowledge and understanding of the principles of Aboriginal Data Sovereignty and a commitment to culturally safe and community-led approaches to data governance.
Sound knowledge and understanding of First Nations cultures, histories and contemporary issues, and the ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal communities.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build relationships with Elders, Aboriginal communities and a range of internal and external stakeholders, and facilitate community engagement activities.
Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and experience using data management, reporting and information systems.
Current Working with Children Check (or the ability to obtain prior to commencement).
Current National Police Check (issued within the last six months) or the ability to obtain prior to commencement if you are the successful candidate.
