The Australian Trucking Association is looking for an energetic and organised engineer or technical adviser to provide us with advice on truck engineering issues. This role offers you the chance to improve the safety of every road user and increase the trucking industry's productivity.

The Australian Trucking Association is the peak body that represents Australia’s 60,000 trucking operators. Our industry consists of 200,000 people who work behind the scenes to deliver everything we buy.

Our national office is in Canberra.
The successful candidate for this role will have:
a mechanical engineering degree or mechanical trade qualification backed with current heavy vehicle industry experience
a demonstrated understanding of the operational and commercial impact of technical policy decisions on trucking businesses
a focus on delivering the priorities of the ATA’s members
a willingness to negotiate and strategically compromise to achieve policy results for the ATA
a willingness to work collaboratively and share information with team members who are professionals in their own fields
a willingness to use the ATA’s technology stack to create and maintain accessible records of the ATA’s work
a commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion.
And in the role, you will:
represent the ATA on NHVR, NTC and other government panels and working groups dealing with truck engineering issues
develop submissions to the NHVR, NTC and other government bodies on truck engineering issues in line with the policy direction set by the ATA council, Industry Technical Council (ITC) and ATA management
oversee the development and maintenance of the ATA’s Technical Advisory Procedures and other technical publications
provide engineering advice to the ATA board, council, policy committees and secretariat
support the Industry Technical Council and its work program
in conjunction with other ATA staff, develop the business program for the annual Technology and Maintenance Conference
liaise with trucking businesses, OEMs, suppliers, regulators and other industry associations about technical issues
contribute to the successful administration of the ATA secretariat and its events.
