About the role
APPRENTICESHIP - Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade
First Year Apprenticeship - 2027 Intake
Primary Work Location: Erina NSW
About the role
Council is excited to offer an Apprenticeship opportunity for a motivated person interested in gaining hands-on trade experience and technical training as an Apprentice Fitter Machinist. The objective of the program is to develop the knowledge, skills and competence required to successfully complete the apprenticeship, with a view to establishing a rewarding career as a Fitter Machinist within the Water and Sewer industry.
General Information
The Apprenticeship program requires the successful applicant to enter into a Training Contract for four (4) years, commencing in January 2027.
As part of their individual Training Plan, the apprentice will be required to undertake and complete formal trade training in Fitting Machining through a NSW TAFE Campus or Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
The successful applicant will commence as a 1st year Apprentice and will be trained under the guidance of suitably qualified supervisors and experienced tradespeople. The role may involve rotating between work locations to build practical, on-the-job experience across different areas of Council's Water and Sewer operations. Council offers a supportive development program, providing exposure to many facets of the trade throughout the apprenticeship.
We encourage applications from people who have a genuine interest in mechanical trades, enjoy hands-on work, and are motivated to develop their knowledge and skills while building a career as a Fitter Machinist.
Please note that employment beyond the term of the Apprenticeship is neither automatically offered nor guaranteed.
Essential Criteria
Applications will be assessed based on information provided in the application. Council receives numerous applications for Traineeships and applicants need to meet the essential criteria and clearly establish their aptitude for their chosen role.
