What you'll be doing
As a Diversional Therapist, you will use your clinical expertise and creativity to deliver meaningful leisure, recreation and therapeutic activities that support consumers' individual goals, recovery and quality of life.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to assessment, intervention and evaluation while helping consumers engage in purposeful activities that promote connection, participation and wellbeing.
Assess consumers' needs and develop person-centred therapeutic strategies in partnership with clients and the broader care team.
Plan, facilitate and evaluate engaging leisure and recreation group programs across mental health inpatient units.
Provide clinical advice and collaborate with consumers, carers, families, clinicians and service providers to support continuity of care.
Maintain high-quality clinical documentation and contribute to quality improvement, research, education and professional development activities.
Manage competing clinical and administrative priorities while applying evidence-based practice across a diverse range of mental health presentations.

Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Recognised Degree in Diversional Therapy.
Registration: Eligibility for membership with the Diversional Therapy Association of Australia National Council.
Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated experience in developing, coordinating and evaluating diversional therapy interventions with mental health consumers in a group and individually or skills and competencies that are transferrable to a Mental Health setting.
Demonstrates understanding of mental health conditions and their effects on individuals in inpatient mental health units, and supports recovery through the application of Diversional Therapy
Demonstrates the ability to contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team, working both independently and in collaborative practice.
Demonstrates effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills, computer and technology skills (including electronic medical records)
Commitment to continuing professional education and participation in quality improvement, evidence based practice, and clinical supervision
Current unrestricted NSW Driver's Licence with a willingness use for work purpose
