Senior Accountant

The McKinley Plowman (MP+) team is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Accountant to join us in our West Perth or Joondalup office. The successful candidate will possess strong technical taxation and accounting knowledge, exceptional client relationship skills and the ability to mentor junior team members. You will be proactive, commercially minded and committed to delivering outstanding client outcomes.

Experience with cloud accounting platforms, and business advisory services will be highly regarded. This role offers a clear pathway forward within the firm.

Technical

• Preparation and review of financial statements for companies, trusts, and partnerships.

• Preparation and review of income tax returns for all entity types.

• Strong understanding of Australian taxation legislation, including Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, GST, Fringe Benefits Tax, Division 7A, Payroll Tax and Small Business CGT Concessions.

• Tax planning and structuring advice.

• Month-end and year-end reporting processes.

• Identifying tax risks and compliance issues.

• Liaising with the ATO and other government agencies.

• Proficiency with cloud accounting and practice management software, including Xero, MYOB, FYI and Microsoft 365.

Client and Commercial

• Build strong client relationships and act as a trusted adviser.

• Identify value-added advisory opportunities.

• Meet deadlines.

• Resolve client queries efficiently and professionally.

• Work collaboratively across service divisions.

Leadership and Team Development

• Review work prepared by junior and intermediate accountants.

• Manage multiple engagements simultaneously.

• Contribute to process improvement and efficiencies.

• Demonstrate initiative and ownership of client outcomes.

The successful candidate for this role will have:

• 5+ years (Full Time) of Australian tax and business services experience gained at a reputable medium-size practice.

• A solid understanding of tax and accounting (in particular, dealing with trusts and company financial statements and tax requirements).
