About the role
Speech Pathologist
Mackay, Queensland | Full-time or Part-time
New graduates and experienced clinicians welcome.
Move and Play Paediatric Therapy is a well-established, values-led paediatric allied health practice where clinicians are supported to do their best work. We focus on high-quality, thoughtful care for children and families, backed by strong teamwork, shared learning, and sustainable ways of working and supporting children and families.
To meet the high demand for services for children in our community, we are now looking for a Speech Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary team in Mackay.
This role would suit someone who wants to do meaningful work, be part of a team that works closely together, and grow their skills over time to become a highly skilled and respected clinician.
About the role
You'll be joining our collaborative team of Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, and Allied Health Assistants who support children from birth through to adolescence.
Depending on your interests and experience, your caseload may include children with developmental delay, neurodevelopmental conditions, neurodivergence or a range of general childhood presentations. You will work in the clinic as well as home, school and community settings.
Experience in paediatrics, while beneficial, is not essential. We regularly support therapists transitioning into paediatric practice and provide structured mentoring, supervision and professional development to help you build confidence and clinical depth.
Your work may include:
Supporting children with speech and language needs
Assistive technology and AAC (training and support provided)
Literacy and school readiness
Feeding and mealtime support
Parent coaching and education
Running group or community-based programs
Working closely with families, educators, and other professionals
How we work
At Move and Play, we are intentional about how we work with families, and how work fits into life. We value good clinical reasoning, clear communication, and working collaboratively with others to ensure children and families are optimally supported.
What this looks like in practice:
Full-time work with flexibility around hours where possible, or part-time work to suit your lifestyle and responsibilities outside of work
Daily protected time for preparation, admin and reflection
Regular mentoring with senior clinicians who are highly experienced and invested in your development and wellbeing
Clear pathways for growth, whether that is deepening your clinical skills, developing leadership, or finding a sustainable long-term rhythm
A team culture that is professional, supportive and human. We take our work seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously
What else we offer:
A generous professional development budget and leave
A daily project hour for mentoring, collaboration, learning, or focused work
Full administration support so your time is spent where it matters
Career conversations, established career pathway and clinical learning pathways, and regular check-ins with your team leader to help you be your best

A genuine interest in working with children and families
