Software Engineer – Developer Tooling
Technology sits at the core of our client's business, supporting highly automated, performance-sensitive systems operating across global markets. The engineering environment is focused on building reliable, scalable software that can operate efficiently across complex, distributed infrastructure.
Their Platform Engineering team develops the runtime environments, services, and tooling used to operate business-critical applications globally. The team works across a combination of internally developed, open-source, and third-party technologies and is looking to expand its Application Platform capability.
This team is responsible for turning software into reliable, production-ready applications. The team builds scalable, self-service systems for configuring, distributing, deploying, upgrading, and operating applications across global data centre environments. These platforms support tens of thousands of services and applications while enabling engineering teams to deploy and operate software efficiently.
Core Responsibilities
Develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-performance, globally distributed applications, primarily using Go.Work closely with engineers, stakeholders, and internal users across local and international teams.Understand internal engineering requirements and design platform capabilities that improve how software is configured, deployed, and operated.Support engineering teams, resolve technical blockers, and turn recurring operational issues into long-term platform improvements.Own services across the full lifecycle, from requirements and design through development, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement.Help operate and support production systems during local business hours.Use automated testing, CI/CD, and frequent deployments to deliver reliable software iteratively.Make pragmatic engineering trade-offs across latency, throughput, scalability, simplicity, reliability, and maintainability.
Skills & Experience
minimum 3 years of professional software engineering experience.Strong programming skills in Go, Python, Java, or a comparable language.Strong analytical ability and an interest in solving complex technical problems programmatically.Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Linux environments.Exposure to distributed systems and modern cloud-native software architecture.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering teams.A DevOps-oriented mindset, with an interest in owning software from development and testing through deployment and production operations.Previous experience in financial markets is not required; an interest in learning about high-performance, real-time systems is beneficial.
