Experienced Underground Longhole Driller – Expression of Interest

Reporting to the Underground Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for safely operating underground longhole production drill rigs while delivering accurate, high-quality production drilling in line with mine plans and production targets.

This position is ideal for experienced operators who understand the importance of drilling accuracy, equipment care, teamwork and maintaining high safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate underground longhole production drill rigs (Sandvik DL/RH Series, Epiroc Simba/ITH or similar)
• Set up and drill production rings accurately to mine design
• Drill to required line, grade, depth and burden/spacing specifications
• Conduct pre-start inspections and routine servicing
• Monitor equipment performance and report faults promptly
• Identify and report ground conditions, hazards and equipment defects
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised work area
• Work closely with Supervisors, Survey, Geology and Charge-Up crews
• Complete drill logs, hazard reports, defect reports and shift documentation
• Follow all site safety procedures and operational standards

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience operating underground longhole production drills
• Strong understanding of production drilling practices and pattern accuracy
• Knowledge of drill consumables, tooling and routine maintenance
• Excellent underground hazard awareness
• Ability to work independently and within a production team
• Strong communication and shift handover skills
• Commitment to safe work practices and operational excellence

Essential Requirements

• Current Australian Driver’s Licence
• National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
• Underground mining induction and relevant site competencies (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical
• Ability to pass Drug & Alcohol screening

Desirable

• Experience operating Sandvik or Epiroc longhole production drills
• First Aid Certificate
• High Risk Work Licences (WP, FL, CN, DG or equivalent)
• Experience in high-production underground mining environments
• Exposure to telemetry or autonomous drilling systems
