About the role
Steelfirst Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and qualified Structural Steel Fabricator to join our talented team in Pakenham, VIC. As a full-time (38 hours per week) employee, you will play a vital role in the fabrication and installation of structural steel, ensuring our clients receive exceptional quality workmanship across residential and commercial construction projects.
Key responsibilities
Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
Select, clean and prepare metal stock prior to fabrication
Mark off and cut metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
Join metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
Finish products by cleaning, polishing and filing
Assist with on-site installation of structural steelwork for residential and commercial projects
Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment in compliance with WHS requirements
About you
Formal trade qualification in Engineering – Fabrication (MEM31922 Certificate III or equivalent)
Minimum 1 years of experience as a qualified Structural Steel Fabricator
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
Strong welding skills (MIG/Stick)
Current White Card (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Commitment to safety and workplace health standards
