The Opportunity

Duration: 3-6 months Arrangement: Full time (hybrid) Location: Melbourne

About You

You are a seasoned financial services regulatory lawyer with a minimum of 5 years' experience, bringing a strong track record from private practice or in-house roles within large organisations.

Your Experience & Expertise:

Experience working in an in-house legal, compliance, risk or regulatory function, ideally within financial servicesDemonstrated experience assessing regulatory incidents, compliance issues or potential breaches against applicable legal and compliance obligationsExperience drafting breach reports, compliance notices, regulatory notifications or incident reports for regulators such as ASIC or APRAStrong understanding of financial services regulatory obligations, particularly in relation to breach reporting, incident assessment and compliance frameworksFamiliarity with superannuation, insurance, wealth management, investment funds or financial advice businesses would be highly advantageousExperience working with external or related stakeholders, such as insurance brokers, superannuation trustees, responsible entities and financial advisory businessesAbility to manage overflow incident assessment work during periods of increased reporting or system transition activity

Your Skills & Attributes:

Strong regulatory judgement and the ability to assess whether incidents may constitute breaches of compliance obligationsStrong drafting skills, including the ability to prepare clear incident reports, breach reports, compliance notices and regulator-facing correspondenceSound knowledge of financial services compliance and regulatory risk principlesAbility to work efficiently through a high volume of incident assessments or overflow mattersConfidence liaising with internal business teams, legal, compliance, risk and senior stakeholders
