About the role
The Nursery Team Leader plays a critical leadership role in coordinating daily nursery operations, leading and developing the nursery team, and ensuring the production, maintenance and dispatch of high-quality tree stock that meets the standards of Mt William Advanced Tree Nursery. The role is responsible for planning and prioritising work activities, supervising staff, maintaining plant health and production quality, managing inventory and resources, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
Lead, develop and coordinate the nursery production team to achieve operational objectives and maintain a positive workplace culture
Allocate staff and resources to daily and weekly priorities
Conduct weekly toolbox meetings and daily team briefings
Monitor productivity and provide coaching and feedback
Support employee development, training and performance management
Plan and coordinate potting, pruning, blocking-up and maintenance programs
Monitor production targets and labour requirements
Ensure quality control standards are maintained throughout production processes
Monitor stock for pests, diseases, nutritional deficiencies and environmental stress
Maintain healthy nursery stock through effective plant health monitoring, biosecurity and quality assurance processes
About you
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
Ability to foster a safe, respectful and collaborative team environment
Experience in team leadership and workforce coordination
Knowledge of nursery production processes and plant health management
Ability to monitor and maintain quality control standards
Experience with inventory and resource management
Commitment to work health and safety practices
Ability to lead by example in safe work practices
