As a key member of a multi-disciplinary wellbeing team, you'll work directly with children to build their social and emotional skills, while also providing responsive support to those experiencing urgent needs.

About The Role
This role is part of the Department of Education's Wellbeing Workforce, delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to students and families with mild to moderate mental health concerns. You'll also play a vital role in connecting families to external services and empowering them to support their child's emotional development.
Your Opportunity
Social Workers provide evidence-based therapeutic support to students with mild to moderate mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, crisis and relationship concerns.Assess student wellbeing and mental health needs to inform appropriate interventionsDeliver individual and group counselling and therapeutic supports to students and familiesProvide support and ensure safety plans within the school context are implemented for students who are self-harming and/or at risk of suicideApply knowledge of the mental health continuum to identify when external support is required and facilitate referrals to community agenciesWork collaboratively with school leadership and student support teams to inform student support planning, and provide advice to teachers supporting students' mental health in the classroomDevelop referral and case management processes to support delivery of the serviceCoordinate referrals, contribute to case management processes, and liaise with external stakeholdersProvide advice and guidance to families to support student wellbeingSupport school communities following critical incidents and emergencies as part of the school response teamCandidates will be assessed against these responsibilities in conjunction with the relevant discipline role description and the Social worker placemat attached.

Progressional roles show a salary range spanning two classifications. Appointment will be made at the level appropriate to skill and fulfilment of required criteria.
