Senior Air Conditioning Technician / Estimator $85,000–$105,000 + Super + Vehicle + $2,500 Bonus

Ready Electrical & Air Conditioning is looking for an experienced air conditioning technician who is ready to move into the next stage of their career.

This is not a standard technician position. From the outset, you’ll spend approximately 50% of your time completing technical field work and 50% quoting and estimating, with a genuine longer-term pathway into a predominantly or fully office-based estimating role.

It’s an ideal opportunity for an experienced technician who still enjoys working in the field but wants to reduce the physical demands of being permanently on the tools and put their technical knowledge to broader use.

You’ll work with customers to design the right solution, prepare accurate scopes and help our team deliver quality air conditioning projects from the initial consultation through to completion.

What the role involves

Your responsibilities will include:

• Quoting residential and light commercial air conditioning projects
• Conducting site inspections and customer consultations
• Completing heat-load assessments and equipment selections
• Designing split, multi-split and ducted air conditioning solutions
• Preparing accurate scopes of work and material requirements
• Clearly explaining available options to customers
• Following up quotations and helping customers make informed decisions
• Completing service, diagnostic and installation work when required
• Identifying potential installation challenges, variations and project risks before work begins
• Providing technical guidance to technicians and apprentices
• Working closely with our operations team to ensure sold projects are practical, properly allowed for and ready to deliver
• Maintaining a high standard of workmanship, presentation and customer service
• Supporting our commitment to “doing it once and doing it right”

The 50/50 split is an approximate guide and may vary according to workload, seasonal demand and your progression within the role.

Your pathway into estimating

Our goal is to develop the right person into a full-time Air Conditioning Estimator.

As your knowledge of our pricing, systems and customers develops, the estimating component of your role will progressively increase.

Formal progression reviews will be held at three, six and twelve months. These reviews will consider your development in areas including:

• Site assessment and system design
• Accurate job scoping and material allowances
• Quote preparation and presentation
• Customer communication and follow-up
• Commercial awareness and job profitability
• Your ability to manage the estimating process independently

This is a genuine long-term career pathway for someone who wants to remain in the air conditioning industry while moving into a less physically demanding and more commercially focused position.

About you

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience in residential and light commercial air conditioning
• Relevant air conditioning and refrigeration trade qualifications
• Current refrigerant-handling accreditation
• A current Australian driver licence
• Sound knowledge of split, multi-split and ducted air conditioning systems
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
• The ability to assess sites and accurately scope installation work
• Confidence communicating with customers and explaining technical information clearly
• Good written communication and attention to detail
• Strong organisation and follow-up habits
• An understanding of what technicians need to deliver jobs efficiently
• A professional appearance and customer-focused attitude
• Pride in the quality of your work
• The ability to work independently while contributing to a close team

Previous quoting, estimating or sales experience will be highly regarded. However, we’re also open to an excellent senior technician with the communication skills, technical ability and ambition to develop into estimating.

Applicants must have unrestricted Australian working rights and be confident communicating with customers in spoken and written English.
