Period of employment / Hours:

Fixed term full-time day work (part-time hours may be considered by negotiation) commencing ASAP for a period of 12 months.

Homes Tasmania - Branch – Housing Policy and Programs State-wide (**)

Duties:

Primary Purpose / Focus :

This is a senior leadership role within the Housing Policy and Programs branch, requiring strong experience in strategic policy development and demonstrated ability to think critically with excellent analytical, conceptual, research, writing, and personal management skills to provide evidence-based high-level advice about Tasmania’s housing and homelessness system.

The role requires advance knowledge of and experience providing leadership, direction, and support to staff. The Manager will lead the Government Relations and Strategic Policy unit to inform and develop strategic housing policy for recommendation to senior management, the Homes Tasmania Board, Department of Premier and Cabinet, government agencies and policy colleagues across Australia and provide advice on strategic housing matters.

Skills and experience :

Selection criteria includes:

• Demonstrated ability to provide authoritative, specialist and effective advice to senior executives and colleagues on relevant issues across the spectrum of their responsibilities.
• Highly developed management skills, with demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor staff and to model Homes Tasmania’s values to create a positive culture in a complex professional work environment and to apply contemporary management techniques and work constructively as part of a team and with senior management.
• Highly developed time management skills, with demonstrated ability to work quickly under pressure, often according to complex rules and procedures, and be adaptive to change.

Desirable Requirements:

• Current Driver’s Licence.
• Satisfactory completion of an appropriate course of study from a recognised tertiary institution.
