About The Role
The Arts, Heritage and Libraries Branch enrich the lives of residents and visitors through inspiring creative, cultural and heritage experiences. With a focus on community connection, learning and place-making, the branch delivers programs, exhibitions and services that celebrate the Sunshine Coast's unique identity. As part of this dynamic team, you'll contribute to preserving and showcasing the region's artistic and cultural assets for future generations.
As the Senior Curator (Collections), you will oversee the management, preservation and growth of the Sunshine Coast Art Collection, encompassing both visual and public art. This highly rewarding role combines collection management, exhibition development, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning to maximise the collection's value and visibility across the region. Working closely with artists, cultural organisations and community stakeholders, you'll play a key role in shaping the legacy of one of Queensland's most vibrant regional art collections.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the Sunshine Coast Art Collection, including conservation, cataloguing, valuations, storage and artwork movements.Coordinate exhibitions and displays across Caloundra Regional Gallery, libraries and community venues.Lead collection development through acquisition planning, gap analysis and donation programs.Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, collectors, valuers, conservators and other cultural stakeholders
About You
You hold qualifications in Art History, Gallery Studies, Museum Studies or a related discipline, backed by experience managing significant public or corporate art collections.You bring a strong understanding of collection management principles, legislation, standards and best practice, with a passion for preserving and showcasing cultural assets.You are an organised and proactive professional with proven project and event management skills, capable of coordinating multiple priorities while delivering quality outcomes.You are an exceptional communicator who builds positive relationships with diverse stakeholders and enjoys collaborating to achieve shared goals across the arts and cultural sector.
