Speech Pathologist

About the role

Playgroup SA is seeking a warm, collaborative and experienced Speech Pathologist to deliver the PEEP Talk program with three and four-year-old children across playgroups and Early Childhood Education and Care settings in northern Adelaide. Rather than delivering a stand-alone clinical service, you will work alongside children, families, educators and university students to embed practical speech and language strategies into everyday play, routines and interactions. Working with a high level of independence, you will coordinate and deliver the program across community-based settings. You will also supervise university speech pathology students and collaborate with Adelaide University to co-design and refine the program in alignment with student learning outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver play-based PEEP Talk sessions in playgroups and targeted small-group sessions for three and four-year-old children
• Support children's speech and language development through naturalistic strategies embedded in play and everyday interactions
• Coach educators and families to use practical communication strategies in daily routines
• Supervise and mentor university speech pathology students during program delivery
• Build the confidence and capability of educators, families, students and community partners
• Coordinate delivery sites, scheduling, logistics, stakeholder communication and consent processes
• Work collaboratively with Adelaide University, Early Childhood Educators and community partners
• Collect program data and maintain accurate participant, consent and delivery records
• Contribute to evaluation, grant reporting and continuous program improvement
• Promote inclusive, family-centred, culturally responsive and strengths-based practice

About you

• A Bachelor's or Master's qualification in Speech Pathology
• Speech Pathology Australia registration
• Demonstrated experience in early childhood speech and language development
• The ability to deliver play-based intervention in naturalistic early childhood and community settings
• Strong coaching and capacity-building skills
• Experience working with young children, families and educators
• Strong written communication, documentation and reporting skills
• An understanding of inclusive and culturally responsive practice
• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and coordinate activities across multiple sites
• Experience supervising students, or a willingness to develop your student supervision capability
• Current Working with Children Check
• Current SPA membership
• National Police Clearance
• First Aid certification
• RAN-EC certification
• Foundations of Child Safety Training
• Current driver's licence and access to your own vehicle
• Willingness to travel to community delivery sites
