Operations Manager – Light Gauge Steel Framing

Frametec is a growing Western Australian company specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of light gauge steel framing solutions for residential and commercial construction.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to take ownership of our project delivery process and help build the systems, people and processes that will support our next stage of growth.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role suited to someone with strong light gauge steel framing experience who enjoys bringing structure to operations, solving problems and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

About the Role

Reporting to the Directors, you'll oversee confirmed projects from handover through to completion, coordinating detailing, procurement, production, logistics and installation.

You'll work closely with clients, consultants, suppliers, installers and our internal team to ensure every project is delivered efficiently, accurately and on schedule.

Beyond day-to-day project coordination, you'll play a key role in improving operational systems, developing processes and helping Frametec continue to grow in an organised and sustainable way.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:

• Manage confirmed projects from handover through detailing, manufacturing, delivery and installation.

• Review architectural, structural and construction drawings.

• Prepare project information for internal and external detailing teams.

• Coordinate and monitor detailing to ensure deadlines are achieved.

• Review completed detailing for accuracy and compliance with project documentation.

• Identify design discrepancies, missing information and potential construction issues before production.

• Prepare complete production documentation for the workshop.

• Develop and manage production schedules and project timelines.

• Complete material take-offs and coordinate procurement.

• Manage supplier orders and monitor lead times.

• Coordinate transport, deliveries and installation schedules.

• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, installers and internal staff throughout each project.

• Lead and support the operations team while maintaining accountability and high performance.

• Develop and improve systems, procedures and workflows that increase efficiency, quality and consistency.

• Contribute to the continued growth and operational development of the business.

About You

To succeed in this role you'll bring practical industry knowledge, strong organisational skills and the confidence to lead projects and people.

You'll ideally have:

• Proven experience within the light gauge steel framing industry.

• Strong knowledge of detailing, manufacturing and installation processes.

• The ability to confidently interpret architectural, structural and construction drawings.

• Experience reviewing detailing and verifying designs against project documentation.

• Strong project coordination, scheduling and procurement experience.

• Experience completing material take-offs.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

• Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.

• A confident, proactive and accountable leadership style.

• Experience leading and coordinating teams.

• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

• Experience developing or improving operational systems and processes.

Highly Regarded

• Experience in structural steel.

• Experience helping a construction or light gauge steel business improve operations and scale for growth.
