Trade Assistant

About The Role

Ventia has been engaged by the Victorian Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) to provide integrated facility management and maintenance services across critical government infrastructure.

We are seeking a motivated Trade Assistant Level 1 to join our team at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct. Working alongside qualified tradespeople and maintenance professionals, you will support the delivery of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance services that help keep the facility safe, secure and operational.

Responsibilities Will Include

Completing basic inspections of facilities, assets and equipment. Assisting tradespersons with preventative and reactive maintenance works. Performing general labouring and maintenance support activities. Undertaking maintenance and housekeeping tasks. Assisting with minor maintenance and repair works within competency levels. Moving materials, tools and equipment across site. Completing work orders and documentation as required. Identifying and reporting maintenance issues, hazards and defects. Supporting contractors and other maintenance personnel on site. Maintaining compliance with all Ventia, DJCS and safety requirements. Contributing to a safe, professional and customer-focused workplace.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess:

A positive attitude and strong work ethic and ability to work effectively within a team environment. Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop new skills. Previous labouring, maintenance or trade assistant experience (desirable). Current unrestricted driver's licence. Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check and Working with Children Check.

Monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO) through the 19-day, 152-hour roster arrangement. 5 Weeks Off Per Year (4 weeks annual leave plus approximately 12 RDOs annually). Annual leave loading when taking annual leave. Service Leave entitlement of 2 paid days each year after two years' service. Fortnightly pay cycle. Uniforms and PPE provided. Training and development opportunities with progression to Trade Assistant Level 2 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance and required competencies. Stable full-time employment under a dedicated Enterprise Agreement.
