Are you an accountant who enjoys digging beneath the numbers to uncover the "why" behind variances? Do you thrive when working with large volumes of data, investigating complex transactions, and partnering with stakeholders to resolve issues?
Reporting to the Accounting Lead, the Accountant will join our Finance team on a 12-month Contract - at our South Guildford Head Office. Supporting one of WesTrac’s most critical areas of the business: Inventory Accounting. This is a highly analytical role where you'll work across multiple systems, reconcile high-volume transactions, investigate discrepancies, and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of inventory reporting.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys combining accounting expertise, problem-solving skills and stakeholder engagement to drive accurate financial outcomes.
Department Overview: Finance Operations delivers critical accounting and transactional support across inventory, warranty, fixed assets, leases, claims, and finance administration. The team manages high-volume processes, drives automation and continuous improvement initiatives, and partners closely with operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and strong governance across the business
Roster – 5 Days, Monday to Friday, 40 Hrs/Week
What You'll Do:
Own month-end reconciliations and ensure accurate financial reportingAnalyse large volumes of transactional data to identify discrepanciesInvestigate variances and determine root causes of financial differencesPrepare financial analysis and reporting to support business decisionsResolve accounting queries and drive issues through to completionIdentify opportunities to improve processes, controls and data accuracy
Skills & Experience:
Advanced data analysis and reconciliation skills across large, complex datasetsStrong investigative mindset with the ability to solve complex financial issuesAbility to identify, analyse and resolve complex financial variances accuratelyExperience working with high-volume transactional data in complex environmentsExcellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationshipsStrong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and financial integrityAbility to manage competing priorities and consistently meet critical deadlinesSystems-focused thinker who drives process improvement and data quality outcomes
