Data Fusion and Integration Engineer

Profectus is inviting expressions of interest from Data Fusion and Integration Engineers for likely upcoming work across secure Australian Government environments. The work involves integrating and correlating disparate data sources into a unified operational picture, and building the pipelines, APIs and event flows that move data between systems that were not designed to talk to each other, under classification and provenance constraints. We are seeking engineers who can build durable data movement and fusion to a high standard in structured, well-governed settings.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build and operate data pipelines that ingest, transform and deliver data at scaleIntegrate and correlate disparate data sources into a unified operational pictureBuild and sustain integrations using REST APIs and event-driven patternsDevelop transformation and fusion logic that survives schema change and system replacementImplement streaming data flows using technologies such as KafkaApply data quality, lineage and provenance controls appropriate to a government contextWork with source system owners to resolve data problems at the sourceIntegrate data across security domains where requiredSupport delivery across modern data platforms such as Databricks or SnowflakeProduce handover artefacts and documentation so pipelines and integrations remain supportableCollaborate with engineering, data and program teams to deliver reliable outcomes
Required ExperienceDemonstrated data engineering or integration experience building and operating production pipelinesStrong SQL, including query tuning, and strong Python or ScalaAPI design and integration experience, including REST and event-driven patternsExperience correlating or fusing data from multiple disparate sourcesExperience with a modern data platform such as Databricks, Snowflake or equivalentUnderstanding of data quality, lineage and provenance, and why they matter in a government contextAbility to work with source system owners to resolve data problems at the sourceStrong documentation skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable ExperienceStreaming experience with Kafka or a comparable technologyExperience integrating data across security domainsGeospatial data experience, including Esri productsExposure to Palantir Foundry or similar integration and fusion platformsCertifications such as Databricks Data Engineer, Microsoft Azure Data Engineer, AWS Data Engineer or SnowPro CoreExperience delivering within Australian Government environments
Security Clearance RequirementMust be an Australian CitizenMust have an AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance (minimum)Must be willing to obtain an AGSVA NV2 Security Clearance
