Ward Facilitator - Yirralka Rangers

Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation (Laynha) is seeking a motivated and capable Ward Facilitator to join the Yirralka Rangers team.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside Yolŋu Traditional Owners and Rangers, supporting the delivery of cultural and natural resource management activities across the Laynhapuy Indigenous Protected Area (IPA). About Us

Laynha is a not-for-profit organisation supporting 30 homeland communities across East Arnhem Land for more than 40 years. We deliver essential services including healthcare, aged care, housing,
community services, and land and sea management.

About the Yirralka Rangers

The Yirralka Rangers work with Yolŋu Traditional Owners to protect and manage Country across the Laynhapuy Indigenous Protected Area. Their work includes fire management, weed and pest animal control, threatened species protection, visitor management, cultural site protection, and supporting the transfer of traditional knowledge to future generations.

About the Role

As a Ward Facilitator, you will work closely with Management, Rangers and Traditional Owners to coordinate on-country activities, mentor Rangers, and help deliver practical conservation and cultural land management programs.

In this role, you will:

• Support Yolŋu Rangers and Traditional Owners to deliver Caring for Country activities
• Coordinate field trips, logistics and on-country work programs
• Mentor Rangers through on-the-job training and support workplace safety
• Assist with planning work programs and meeting reporting requirements
• Maintain project records, field data and GIS information
• Support the maintenance of vehicles, equipment and field resources
• Build strong relationships with community and work under Yolŋu leadership
• Contribute to the protection of Country, culture and community for future generations

We're looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about Caring for Country and working alongside Aboriginal communities
• Organised, practical and able to coordinate multiple activities across remote locations
• A confident communicator who enjoys mentoring and supporting others
• Comfortable working independently in remote environments
• Respectful of Yolŋu culture and committed to working under Traditional Owner direction
• Proactive, reliable and safety-focused

Skills and Requirements

• Experience working in remote communities or with Aboriginal organisations
• Experience coordinating projects, programs or field-based activities
• Strong administration, planning and reporting skills, including Microsoft Office
• Practical experience operating and maintaining vehicles, equipment or machinery
• Relevant qualifications in natural resource management, conservation, training, trades or a related field are highly regarded
• Current Manual Driver's Licence and experience driving in remote conditions
• Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
