About the role
Shades of Australia is a growing business specialising in premium window furnishings and outdoor shading solutions across residential and commercial projects.
We’re known for our attention to detail, high-quality workmanship and strong focus on customer experience. Our team takes pride in delivering installations done right the first time, with safety, professionalism and reliability at the core of everything we do.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a motivated Junior Installation Technician to join our installation team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is hands-on, practical and keen to develop a career in the window furnishings and outdoor shading industry. You’ll receive on-the-job training and work alongside experienced installers to build your skills and product knowledge.
As a Junior Installation Technician, you’ll assist our Lead and Senior Installation Technicians with the installation of premium interior and exterior shading products across residential and commercial sites.
You’ll learn how to install a wide range of products including blinds, curtains, shutters, awnings and outdoor shading systems, while developing the practical skills required to progress within the industry.
You’ll work closely with our installation, sales and support teams, as well as our clients, to ensure every project is completed safely, efficiently and to our high standards.
Working hours:
Monday to Friday, generally 8:00am – 5:00pm
Saturday work (8:00am – 5:00pm) required during peak periods
Salary:
Negotiable based on experience and capability
Assist with the installation of blinds, curtains, shutters and tracks
Assist with the installation of outdoor blinds, awnings and shading systems
Learn to read and follow job sheets, plans and installation details
Assist with measuring, marking and fitting products accurately
Develop strong installation skills and product knowledge
Use hand and power tools safely and correctly
Maintain a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients and team members
Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including working safely at heights
Assist with job documentation, photos and installation checklists
Keep tools, equipment and vehicles clean and organised
Assist with loading, unloading and preparation of materials
Identify and report any site issues or potential problems to the senior installer
Ensure work areas and job sites are left clean and tidy
Support the wider installation team as required
We’re looking for someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn. Previous experience in window furnishings or a trade is beneficial, but not essential.
You’ll ideally have:
A genuine interest in developing practical installation or trade skills
A willingness to learn and take direction from experienced technicians
Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
A reliable and punctual attitude
Good communication skills and a professional manner
The ability to work well as part of a team
A positive, can-do attitude
Good physical fitness and the ability to work at heights
Confidence using, or a willingness to learn how to use, hand and power tools
A valid driver’s licence
A strong commitment to safety
