Work Location: Perth Office – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people

Roster: Monday to Friday

We are seeking an Automation Projects Specialist to support the practical delivery of automation and field technology projects, with a strong focus on site execution, supplier coordination, installation readiness, commissioning and handover. The successful person will coordinate system installations on site, manage inputs from internal teams and vendors, and ensure works are planned and delivered safely with minimal operational disruption.

This is a Perth-based role with regular site travel required. During active installation and commissioning periods, site attendance will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Establish project scopes, develop scopes of work and prepare project delivery documentationCoordinate internal inputs across Engineering, Mining Operations, Maintenance, Procurement & Contracts, IT/OT and other relevant teamsManage supplier and vendor interfaces, including technical deliverables, planning and scheduling, installation support and issue resolutionTrack milestones, dependencies, risks and actions, escalating issues early to drive practical resolutionDrive change management to ensure operational readiness, stakeholder engagement, training and implementation planning are delivered in accordance with Fortescue requirementsOversee system installations on site, including vendor mobilisation, job setup and readiness validationSupport commissioning activities, including system energisation, functional testing, interface validation, fault-finding and handover readinessAct as the site-facing project representative during installation, commissioning, testing and early operational support phasesEnsure operational feedback is captured and directed towards improvement opportunities for future deployments.

Qualifications And Experience

Experience in mining operations, maintenance or project delivery with site-based executionDemonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and drive work through to completionExperience with Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) or mining automationExperience in electrical installation, commissioning or maintenanceDigger Electrician or field electrical background, including engineering or electrical experienceExperience with industrial automation, control systems, operational technology networks or field technology deploymentsExperience with LiDAR, machine vision, image recognition, HMI systems or networked field systemsExperience with remote operations, control rooms or HIVE operationsStrong communication, follow-through and action management skillsStrong practical problem-solving skills.
