Tuckshop Convenor

About the role

The Gap State School P&C Association is seeking an organised, community-minded Tuckshop Convenor to manage the day-to-day running of our school tuckshop. This role oversees food ordering, menu planning, stock control, volunteers, food safety, and cash handling, while helping maintain a safe, efficient, and welcoming tuckshop for students and staff. Previous tuckshop experience is preferred but not essential, and a positive attitude, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to excellent customer service are key.

Come and join our wonderful school community. Opportunity to join as a tuckshop assistant immediately to receive full training prior to beginning a manager role during the mid-term break between Term 3 and 4.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the Tuckshop in accordance with the policies and standards as determined by the P&C Association

• Manage stock levels and order goods from suppliers approved by the P&C Association in accordance with set stock levels

• Check deliveries for quality; return any stock not up to standard and obtain credit notes for the same, match quantities with delivery dockets before signing

• Regularly review and update menu and pricing in consultation with the P&C Association

• Routinely review supplier arrangements and prices to ensure competitiveness and make key decisions about changing suppliers in consultation with the P&C Committee

• Achieve and maintain the Tuckshop in an orderly and safe condition at all times

• Prepare and distribute food orders, ensuring compliance with all Government Regulations, legislation, standards and Education Queensland requirements

• Prepare determined food items in house and store in appropriate containers in the freezer

• Ensure food is heated and maintained at the correct temperature before serving

• Ensure that correct food hygiene practices are observed to prevent spoilage and contamination

About you

• Previous tuckshop experience is desired, though not compulsory

• Customer service focused: committed to providing exceptional customer service across all channels – written, phone and face to face

• Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience

• Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally

• Commerciality: ability to apply knowledge in a practical, commercial manner

• Teamwork: willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members

• Time management/organisation: accomplish objectives effectively within time frame given, and carry out administrative duties within portfolio in an efficient and timely manner
