Diesel Mechanic

Greenmountain Food Processing Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team at our large beef-processing facility in Coominya.

This is a stable, long-term opportunity offering greater variety than a conventional workshop role. You will maintain and repair tractors, trucks, skid steers, generators and other mobile plant, while also assisting with general fixed-plant maintenance when required.

Reporting primarily to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

• Diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, mechanical systems and mobile plant

• Performing planned and breakdown maintenance

• Maintaining tractors, trucks, skid steers, generators and related equipment

• Completing inspections, servicing and fault-finding

• Repairing hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems

• Assisting with fixed-plant maintenance, shutdowns and equipment installation

• Performing welding and fabrication within your competence

• Following permit-to-work, isolation and lockout/tagout requirements

• Maintaining food safety, hygiene and contamination-control standards

• Supporting after-hours breakdowns, overtime and weekend work where required

• Contributing to equipment reliability and continuous improvement

You will hold one of the following qualifications:

• Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology

• Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic

You will also have:

• Demonstrated diesel-mechanical competence and strong fault-finding ability

• A current Driver’s Licence

• Full Australian working rights

• A strong commitment to safety

• The ability to work independently and within a maintenance team

• A practical, reliable and flexible approach

• The physical capacity to perform demanding maintenance work

Experience with tractors, trucks, skid steers, generators, food processing, manufacturing or fixed plant will be highly regarded but is not essential. A heavy vehicle licence is also desirable.

• $95,000–$105,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience
