About the Role
Are you an undergraduate student, recent graduate or a person with technical aptitude with a strong passion for agriculture, plant science or cereal breeding?
InterGrain is offering an opportunity to join our barley breeding program in a technical role that provides both an interesting career pathway in cereal breeding, or excellent foundational experience for future postgraduate study, or a research-focused career.
The position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, working within a team environment. Activities include seed preparation for sowing trials, characterisation of plant varieties for agronomic traits, quality assurance and plant development trait scoring of field trials, grain quality assessment, plant pathology disease ratings, plant and plot harvesting, and support for pre-breeding research projects.
This role is ideally suited to a highly motivated undergraduate in early career development or a skilled technician seeking a fulfilling career pathway.
To be eligible for this position, applicants must hold a current Australian driver's licence and have full working rights in Australia. Applications from candidates who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
InterGrain is willing to support suitably qualified and motivated person, with a commitment to the Company, in pursuing further studies in agricultural research and breeding, including Master’s or higher degrees in the future.
Selection Criteria
Preference with be given to applicants that have:
Either undergraduate qualifications in plant science, agriculture, or a related discipline or technical training and interest in agriculture or a related field.
Genuine passion for Australian agriculture and plant breeding.
Experience or interest in plant breeding, agronomy or field-based agricultural research.
Strong computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel.
High attention to detail with excellent time-management and organisational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
An ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
A willingness and ability to learn quickly in a practical, results-driven environment.
A Current driver’s licence - essential (heavier class licence advantageous).
A preparedness to travel to regional areas requiring overnight stays to conduct field related activities.
