Downer Energy & Utilities is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support a regional portfolio of projects and contracts across our Energy & Utilities business.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, this role is responsible for sourcing materials and services, managing supplier relationships, supporting procurement planning, and ensuring procurement activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with Downer standards.

Working closely with project delivery teams, project controls, suppliers, and procurement stakeholders, you'll play a critical role in ensuring projects receive the right goods and services at the right cost, time, and quality. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with experience supporting capital projects within the energy, utilities, power generation, or related infrastructure sectors to contribute to the delivery of essential services and critical infrastructure

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement procurement plans to support project and contract delivery.
• Manage sourcing and tender activities, including RFx processes, supplier negotiations, and contract administration.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while driving performance, quality, and value outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, systems, governance requirements, and procurement-to-pay processes.
• Identify and manage procurement risks, opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives across projects.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a procurement professional who enjoys building strong stakeholder relationships, solving problems, and delivering commercial value in a fast-paced project environment.

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Procurement, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years' experience in procurement, contract management, project management, or supply chain roles within construction, utilities, energy, oil & gas, or related industries.
• Experience in capital projects procurement, with exposure to the Energy, Utilities or Power Generation sectors highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of source-to-contract and procure-to-pay processes, including sourcing, tendering, supplier management and contract administration.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and organisational skills, with experience using ERP and procurement systems.
