The part you will play
The Victorian Government provides funding through the Department of Families, Fairness & Housing to Council to facilitate Supported Playgroups for eligible families with children from birth up to 5 years of age. A qualified facilitator leads these playgroup sessions where parents develop their skills and confidence to support their child’s wellbeing and development. In-home support is provided to families who meet additional criteria.
The responsibilities of the Supported Playgroup Facilitator include planning and facilitating Supported Playgroups (incorporating Smalltalk - parenting strategies); providing in-home support; developing referral pathways for families and undertaking evaluation processes, including data collection.
Let’s talk about you
We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of the needs of vulnerable families and children. Alongside this you will have a passion for achieving positive outcomes for children and families and developing programmed activities to deliver in a Supported Playgroup Session. You will be approachable, have a willingness to engage with others, share ideas and work collaboratively with colleagues.
Ideally, you will have qualifications in a relevant discipline, with proven skills and abilities in communicating and engaging with families and children, stakeholder relationships, highly effective interpersonal skills, the capacity to handle a busy workload, and the ability to work positively in a team environment.
