Mechanical Fitter / Heavy Plant Mechanic

Cobra Waste Industries is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Heavy Plant Mechanic to join our team at our Yennora recycling facility.

This is a hands-on role working across heavy plant, recycling equipment and vehicles, with a strong focus on mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, welding and fabrication.

Strong welding and fabrication skills are essential for this role, including experience with MIG, TIG and Stick welding.

• Servicing, maintenance and repairs of heavy plant and machinery

• Maintenance of shredders, conveyors and recycling plant equipment

• Working on excavators, loaders, material handlers and other mobile plant

• MIG, TIG and Stick welding

• Fabrication and structural repairs

• Repairing cracks, worn components, frames, brackets and steel structures

• Mechanical and hydraulic fault finding and repairs

• Preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing

• Breakdown diagnosis and urgent repairs

• Identifying faults before they result in major downtime

• Assisting with truck and trailer maintenance where required

• Maintaining service and maintenance records

• Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter, Heavy Plant Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic or equivalent experience

• Strong MIG, TIG and Stick welding skills

• Strong fabrication and metal repair experience

• Experience working with heavy plant, machinery or industrial equipment

• Strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge

• Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills

• Ability to work independently and confidently carry out repairs

• Current driver's licence
