ISS is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Chef to lead our fast-paced kitchen operations within our Mining Villages across Central Queensland.

Working on either a 9 days on / 5 days off or 2 weeks on / 1 week off roster, you'll enjoy a rewarding career while maintaining valuable time away from work, helping you adopt work-life balance.

Reporting to the Village Manager, you'll lead the delivery of high-quality catering services in a dynamic remote mining environment. You'll oversee kitchen operations, inspire your team, and ensure residents enjoy exceptional dining experiences every day.

As Head Chef, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day kitchen operation, leading a team of qualified chefs and catering staff to consistently deliver fresh, nutritious, and high-quality meals.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and coordinate daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient, high-quality food service.
• Prepare and present exceptional meals with consistency, creativity, and attention to detail.
• Champion food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards across the kitchen.
• Manage stock levels, ordering, inventory control, and minimise food waste.
• Oversee menu execution and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Mentor, coach, and develop kitchen team members, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
• Work closely with the Village Manager and wider site team to deliver an outstanding dining experience for residents.

To be considered, you need:

• Proven professional work experience as qualified chef (minimum 2–3 years).
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery recognised in Australia (or higher) 
• Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• FIFO experience in a high-volume kitchen environment (desirable).
• Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and WHS requirements.
• Must pass a full Pre-Employment Medical Assessment and Drug & Alcohol Screen.
• Current Coal Board Medical and Standard 11 Certificate (highly desirable).
• Valid National Police Clearance within the last 12 months.
• Full working rights in Australia.
