We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander professional to lead the Institute's prevention and response to gender-based violence and coordinate our student complaints framework. About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, People & Culture, you will lead Batchelor Institute's implementation of the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence while coordinating the Institute's student complaints management framework.

You will coordinate complex and sensitive gender-based violence disclosures, reports and student complaints using culturally safe, trauma-informed and procedurally fair approaches. Working collaboratively with students, staff and external support services, you will foster a safe, respectful and supportive environment while ensuring people are supported with compassion, integrity and respect.

As the Institute's specialist in this area, you will strengthen organisational capability by developing policies and procedures, delivering education and awareness initiatives, monitoring compliance, analysing trends and providing strategic advice to support a safe, respectful and culturally responsive environment for students and staff.

About You

You are an experienced Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander professional who is passionate about creating safe environments and improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

You will bring:

• Experience managing complex complaints, investigations, case management, gender-based violence responses or other sensitive matters.
• A sound understanding of trauma-informed practice and culturally safe approaches to preventing and responding to gender-based violence.
• Experience developing or improving policies, procedures or organisational practices.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage confidently with students, staff, leaders and external stakeholders.
• The ability to exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality and provide practical advice in complex situations.

A qualification in social work, psychology, law, education, community services, public administration or a related discipline will be well regarded; however, we recognise the value of equivalent skills, knowledge and experience gained through professional practice, community leadership and lived experience.
