CIVIL CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR

About the role

You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for civil and structural projects, from the initial tender review through to submission and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Reviewing tender documents, drawings, specifications and scopes of work

• Completing detailed quantity take-offs

• Preparing labour, plant, material and subcontractor cost estimates

• Obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations

• Identifying project risks, exclusions, opportunities and cost-saving alternatives

• Preparing tender submissions, clarifications and supporting documentation

• Working closely with the Director, engineers, supervisors and project teams

• Attending tender briefings and site inspections when required

• Maintaining estimating records, rates and supplier information

• Assisting with tender handovers following successful awards

About you

• Previous estimating experience within civil construction, structural concrete or infrastructure

• Strong knowledge of concrete works, formwork, reinforcement and associated civil works

• The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

• Strong quantity take-off and cost-planning skills

• Sound commercial awareness and attention to detail

• Confidence dealing with clients, suppliers and subcontractors

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tender deadlines

• Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Excel

• A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field is desirable
