Management Accountant

About the role

This is a management accounting role focused on financial analysis, reporting, and business insights to support decision-making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse budgets, forecasts and financial plans.

• Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reports.

• Analyse revenue, gross margins, operating expenses and profitability by customer, product and business channel.

• Perform detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior periods, identifying key drivers and providing recommendations.

• Analyse inventory valuation, stock movements, inventory costs and product costs.

• Monitor and analyse product margins, freight, warehousing and distribution expenses.

• Assist with pricing and profitability analysis for new and existing products.

• Prepare financial analysis and commercial insights to support business planning and management decision-making.

• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable performance and identify areas requiring improvement.

• Prepare regular financial reports and management presentations, providing clear commentary and recommendations based on financial performance.

About you

• A degree or tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in management accounting or a similar commercial finance role.

• Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and management reporting.

• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret and communicate financial information clearly.

• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate financial data into practical business recommendations.

• Experience working with accounting and reporting systems such as MYOB, Power BI or other ERP/BI platforms.

• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
