Oral Health Therapist

About the role 

Urban Dental is seeking an Oral Health Therapist to join our dedicated team in Kelvin Grove, Queensland. This is a fixed-term part-time position initially offered to cover a parental leave period of approximately 12 months. However, we are looking for someone who is interested in becoming a long-term member of our team, and we hope to continue employment beyond the contract period with adjusted hours when the current team member returns.

This role offers approximately 30 hours per week across four days (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, with no weekend work) and is expected to commence in mid to late October 2026. 

As an Oral Health Therapist, you will play a vital role in delivering preventative and therapeutic dental care, working alongside our dental professionals to provide comprehensive oral health services to our diverse patient population. This position is central to our mission of promoting excellent oral health in the community and supporting our clinical team in delivering high-quality patient care. 

Key responsibilities 

• Providing preventative oral health care, hygiene, and therapy services to patients of all ages, in line with your scope of practice and experience  

• Conducting oral health assessments and screenings to identify patient needs and treatment requirements 

• Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices, dietary habits and preventative care strategies 

• Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records and treatment documentation 

• Supporting the delivery of early intervention programmes and community oral health initiatives 

• Collaborating with the dental team to develop individualised treatment plans and monitor patient progress 

• Opportunity to provide Zoom whitening treatments  

What we're looking for 

• Qualifications & Requirements: -Education: Bachelor of Oral Health / Oral Health Therapy (or an ADC-recognised equivalent qualification).  -Registration: Current, unrestricted registration as an Oral Health Therapist (or Dental Therapist) with AHPRA. 

• Strong knowledge of oral health promotion, disease prevention and patient education principles 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations 

• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary dental team environment 

• Sound understanding of infection control protocols and occupational health and safety requirements 

• A commitment to professional development and maintaining current knowledge of oral health practices and techniques
