Freshcare Limited is Australia's leading industry-led, not-for-profit organisation established over 25 years ago to provide assurance programs which enhance the market access of Australian fresh produce and wine grapes. Additionally, Freshcare supports the sustainability of viticulture and wine making industries through our certification programs.

As Freshcare continues to deliver its Strategic Vision 2030, we are seeking experienced Non-Executive Directors to provide strategic leadership, sound governance and independent oversight.

Two (2) x three-year terms are available for appointment.

About the Board

The Board plays a key role in the governance of the organisation, serving as the guardian of the organisation’s strategic vision and values while ensuring compliance and effective risk management.

The Board meets quarterly (two online and two in person annually), with additional time for preparation and committee participation.

Skills and Experience Required

Freshcare welcomes applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences who are committed to supporting the future of Australian agriculture that have expertise in one or more areas of the following selection criteria - governance, ethics and sustainability, artificial intelligence governance, financial governance and standards stewardship.

Selection Criteria

We are seeking Directors with expertise in one or more of the following:

Governance

• Strong understanding of Board, Chair and CEO responsibilities.
• Commitment to good governance, accountability and strategic oversight.

Ethics and Sustainability

• Understanding of ESG principles and their integration into strategy, governance and industry standards.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Governance

• Understanding of AI opportunities, risks and Board responsibilities.
• Awareness of ethics, privacy and cyber security considerations.

Financial Governance

• Strategic financial oversight and long-term sustainability.
• Ability to interpret financial performance and organisational risk.

Standards Stewardship

• Understanding of the Board's role in maintaining the integrity, relevance and credibility of Freshcare Standards.

About You

In addition, you will bring:

• Board or senior executive leadership experience.
• Strategic thinking, sound judgement and the ability to contribute effectively to Board decision-making.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaborative leadership skills.
• Knowledge of the Australian horticulture, agriculture, viticulture or related industries (desirable).
• Governance qualifications, such as the AICD Company Directors Course or equivalent (desirable).

the Commitment

A 3-year term commencing 10 November 2026.

Remuneration

Directors receive a sitting fee and reimbursement of approved expenses.
